Llobregat Catchment ERASM has collaborated with the Catalunian Water Agency to help with the development of a GREAT-ER application for the Llobregat river (near Barcelona). This river is essential for Barcelonas drinking water supply, and as discharge route for industrial and domestic emissions. Sponsors for the project are the Catalunian Water Agency, ADELMA/AEPSAT and ERASM (AISE/CESIO). Contractor for the project was Girona University (Institute of the Environment, Chemical and Environmental Engineering Laboratory - Prof. Manel Poch and student Francesc Devesa). The key objective was to deliver a detailed and highly precise GREAT-ER model for the 35 km long middle part of the Llobregat river, which is highly populated and industrialized. Another interesting aspect of the catchment is that it is the first Mediterranean-type river in GREAT-ER. The functional catchment is available since end 2003. A small monitoring campaign for the chemical LAS has been carried out in the Llobregat river with the aim to calibrate the GREAT-ER model implementation. ![]() Top of Page ![]() |
