About GREAT-ER desktop The GREAT-ER desktop version, available since November 2003, replaces the previous Arc-View GIS implementation of GREAT-ER 1.0x, first released in 1999. Thus, GREAT-ER desktop is the full featured version of the GREAT-ER model for the advanced user. It is based on the platform-independent and free GIS data viewer 'THUBAN'. The menu items in the desktop interface allow the most common GIS operations, and are ordered according to the usual flow of a simulation session, i.e. Substance, Catchment, Environment and Simulation. All available (Nov. 2003) catchments are included on the GREAT-ER desktop CD.
